Fênix: Journal of History and Cultural Studies and ethical behavior in research and its dissemination

Fênix: Revista de História e Estudos Culturais is a publication committed to the establishment, dissemination and defense of ethical behavior in conducting research, including its dissemination through articles, essays, interviews, reviews and other textual modalities, as well as in all its editorial processes.

Fênix: Revista de História e Estudos Culturais is organized by its/its editors/publishers, section editors/editors, editorial board and advisory board, coming from institutions from different regions of Brazil and other parts of the globe. For the publication of the journal, we have the authors and authors, and also a large body of anonymous reviewers who aim to ensure the relevance of the publication and the quality of the texts that comprise it.

Editors and publishers, including those in the section, assume the responsibility to accept and/or reject texts received by the journal, considering the importance, originality and adherence of contributions, making efforts to ensure the quality of published material, integrity of the collection, the journal's memory. They are also responsible for the dialogue with the councils, with a view to the constant improvement of the magazine, and for the publication of corrections, retractions, errata or apologies that may be necessary. They are also the ones who conduct the submissions, whether those intended for current or special issues, in order to ensure confidentiality throughout the process, without any identification, both of authors and authors, as well as of reviewers, ruling out any influence of order staff in the publishing process. In case of suspicion of bad faith, both of the texts already published and those that are in press, the editors/publishers follow the guidelines of the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), giving authors and authors the opportunity to defend the complaints, all of which they were investigated (after all, Fênix: Revista de História e Estudos Culturais is responsible for keeping all documentation). Finally, it should be noted that editors and publishers act in a transparent and balanced way in the exercise of their tasks, without discrimination by gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic and geographic origin, generation, religion or political beliefs, striving for respectful interaction between them and those that are different.

Authors  are expected to submit their own manuscripts respecting all third-party intellectual property rights; that follow the rules of Fênix: Journal of History and Cultural Studies for submission of texts; ensure that the text – or a significant part of it – has not been published or submitted in duplicate to another journal; indicate the location (institutional or private) of the cited documents, as well as their archival references; send permissions for the use, reproduction and publication of graphics, maps, diagrams, photographs, etc., whenever necessary; know the rules of Attribution - Non-Commercial - No Derivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0); notify the journal's editors and editors if they identify significant errors in the publication; send original texts, without plagiarism or self-plagiarism, fraudulent data and that are not what is called “Minor Publishable Part”; cooperate with publishers and editors in the preparation and publication of errata, addenda, corrections, retractions, when necessary.

The reviewers have objectively reviewed/analyzed the manuscripts, avoiding hostile comments, within a reasonable time, as well as maintaining the confidentiality of any information provided by the editors and publishers, without keeping copies of the manuscripts received, nor using the information received in the review/analysis process for the benefit of one's own or others, neither guaranteeing advantages, nor generating disadvantages or discrediting people. Finally, it has been up to the reviewers to report to the editors/editors about any content already published or submitted that is substantially similar to what is under their analysis/review.
