A HISTÓRIA CULTURAL
UM DIÁLOGO ENTRE ALAIN CORBIN E NORBERT ELIAS

This essay aims to suggest an approximated discussion between two works of distinct intellectual traditions produced in different historical contexts: O Processo Civilizador, published by the German Sociologist Norbert Elias and Saberes e Odores, by the French Historian Alain Corbin. While in production and publication context of the first work, the dialogue promoted by Elias with Historians who have published their works before 1930´s has opposed Sociology and History. On the other hand, mainly after the Second World War, it is possible to notice in works such as Saberes e Odores, that even being not directly referenced Norbert Elias, the concerns are similar. And through different paths, both can contribute for the social and cultural studies.
