Abstract

M. Dostoyevsky did not become famous just for his novels, but was one of the most important journalists of his time. Besides acting in the newspapers Time and Epoch, he worked as chief editor of the journal Citizen when he started to write a column entitled Diary of a writer. It was this production that spurred the creation of an eponymous newspaper, published between 1876 and 1881. This production reinforces the perception of a political ideology embedded in his novels and stories, showing how even under the guise of fiction, Russian literature was a field for discussion of various issues facing the government censorship. These data announced utopian elements in The Dream of a ridiculous man –Fantastic narrative, published in 1877, in Diary of a writer, is the author’s criticism for certain philosophical currents of the nineteenth century, either by setting up a claim to the humanist project in a religious-philosophical model that will inspire a whole crop of thinkers, both in and outside Russia.
