Abstract

It is known that in Brazil, the number of women participating in the political space is still very small, which motivated this reflection, since the largest number of individuals in the country are female. This article aims to reflect the respect of participation and of spaces occupied by women of a city in the metropolitan region of Rio Grande do Sul, in the municipal political spaces. Therefore, we start from the following problem: what are the spaces occupied by women in the politics of municipalities in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre? And how these women perceive politics and their own actions? Discusses the occupation of public space by women, as well as politics. In order to verify how women, relate/related to the policy, there was a qualitative research was conducted using semi-structured interviews applied in 8 women.
