Abstract

The present article offers a reflection on the chronotope in the novel O louco do Cati (1945), by Dyonélio Machado. According to Russian scholar Mikhail Bakhtin, the chronotope is the interconnection of time and space relations artistically assimilated by Literature, and, therefore, it is by that element “historical reality” is introduced in the romance. Bearing that in mind, we examine how space and time interconnect, as well as how History is represented, through Dyonélio Machado fiction.
