Abstract

When we thought about the cultural and artistic movement lived in the 60´s and 70´s, a debate is openned to discuss about social and politic projects, proposed by the artistic and intelectual sectors of the period. Projects that tried to change the society, represented, over all, by means of the engaged art. In the 70´s, the Ballet Stagium considers to represent the “Brazilian modern dance”, discussion that turned around the social and politic questions of the moment. In addition, a proper conception of what it would be a Brazilian identity in the professional dance. In this way, this text searchs to disclose how the artistic language of the dance was directly articulated to the questions of its time and as it searched to represent, throught a new aesthetic proposal, a national identity.
