REPRESENTAÇÕES MENTAIS
O PENSAMENTO NARRATIVO E O PENSAMENTO PARADIGMÁTICO INTEGRADOS
Keywords:

this work seeks an understanding of how man formulates his thoughts, and how he acts on the world based on them. It is not our proposal to exhaust this subject, but to discuss it and present a model of how this process may possibly occur. For these purposes we make a new reading of the thinking modes formulated by the psychologist Jerome Bruner, in the 1980’s: narrative thinking and paradigmatic thinking. For the author these kinds of thinking are opposite, but we argue that they are actually related. This paper defends that they are related. Narrative thinking can be understood as a narrative created by man, based on his memory and his interaction with others; and paradigmatic thinking is a set of propositions derived from the narrated history. Each man, influenced by his interaction with society, culture and his experiences creates narratives, which mirror the collective narratives and generate a set of propositions.
