Abstract

This article shows the way as the historiography of the Brazilian cinema, when dealing with the Chanchadas, being based on the critical ones of time, finishes reproducing a tradition that establishes rigid borders between tragic and the comic. These borders relegate the comedy to a secondary plan. This article argues, moreover, the possibilities of critical to this historiography by means of the dialogue with the M. Bakthin’s ideas.
