Abstract

Originally published in the electronic magazine Le Courrier des stratèges, on April 4 of this year, the text L´Ere Des Soulevements Populaires... written by Michel Maffesoli proposes a forceful reflection on the popular demonstrations in France, known as the Gilets jaunes movement that occurred between October 2018 and March 2020. The author discusses its importance and legitimacy since these upheavals show the crisis of political representativeness and, why not, of democracy itself. More than announcing “the end of the era of revolutions”, it reaffirms the importance of collective actions in this context and updates them for the pandemic moment we are experiencing, which (unfortunately) is not restricted to the field of collective health.
