From Indianist To Indian Literature

On The Image, Place and Leading Role of the Indigenous in the Constitution of Brazilian Identity

Abstract

By thematizing the image, the place and the protagonism of the Indian in the formation of national identity, from a contraposition between the Indianist literature, in which the colonizer speaks racially about the Indian, and the contemporary Brazilian Indian literature, in which the own Indian speaks from himself/herself, from his/her experiences and histories as political-cultural minority made by colonization. We will argue that the Indigenous voice-praxis, performed as political and politicizing place of speak, allows the deconstruction of the myth of racial fusion that is developed by Indianist literature, that leads to invisibilization of structural racism, resolving in an apolitical way the history of violence of the colonization and constructing the great family Brazil which from now on will not need of politics anymore, but just of authoritarian order and full obedience to resolve its family problems.
