This article discusses two procedures widely used in the analysis of meeting scenes in the Iliad and Odyssey: the attribution of meaning to words dêmos and láos, and the determining of how the composition of the poems have been operate, linking them, by this procedure, to external references, which ultimately serve as points of reference for conducting the analysis.
