UMA VISÃO INTEGRADA SOBRE A COMPANHIA DAS VINHAS DO ALTO DOURO

The General Company of the Agriculture and Wines from the Alto Douro, inspired from the Pombal’s ministery (Pombalina), was the most notable Portuguese institution of the eighteenth century. Its antecedents/ record, its action, its consequences and reminiscences are still controversial. With the present work, it will be discussed the General Company according to the contemporary critic visions and it will be observed through the generated discussion. It will be concluded that the General Company was mainly relevant in the political and centralist spheres and with less importance in the economic regional results.
