Abstract

The present work constitutes a study regarding the thematic of the Education developed in Brazil, specifically in the Imperial Court, in middle of century XIX, decades of 1850 and 1860. Understanding the panorama educational and political of this period, it has as ultimate issues: the process of construction of the Imperial State and the Public Instruction; the study of the rules doctor-hygienists related to the debates about power and discipline in the education of deaf people and the social-politic questions that had involved the creation of the first school for deaf people in 1856 Rio de Janeiro, the Imperial Institute of the Dumb Deaf people.
